God does not need eyeglasses! Neither can we limit him to 20/20 vision. God does not have physical limitations as we do. God is of a different nature. God is Spirit. Spirit cannot be limited. God is all seeing, all knowing, all powerful and all everything else we attribute to our fleshly bodies. We can only relate to vision from our human perspective. We can only perceive what our limited minds can grasp. We are limited, God is not.
The phrase, “the eyes of the Lord” appears some times in the Bible. These God breathed words help us better know our Spirit God. Let us glean from the phrase “the eyes of the Lord.”
“The eyes of the Lord are in every place…” (Proverbs 15:3) We cannot escape the all-seeing eyes of God. We read, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth.” (2 Chronicles 16:9)
Understand this also: If we were to “go up to the skies or go down to where the dead are” we would still be under watch of the eyes of the Lord. (Psalm 139:7-8) Not only are the eyes of the Lord in all places, but they are also “…beholding the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)
Job tells us “God’s eyes are upon the ways of man, and he sees all his goings.” (Job 34:21) We may be able to hide evil from our fellow man in this life, but not from God!
The eyes of the Lord are filled with grace. I am thankful. If “Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord” (Genesis 6:8) I can too. God’s saving grace is so plainly set forth through the gospel of Christ. (1 Cor. 15:1-4) I am thankful that I have a Savior who was willing to die for my sins.
The Psalmist says that “the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.” (Psalm 34:15) I personally know of nothing that can be more comforting than to be able to confidently cry out in sorrow to my merciful God who hears and cares.
Peter assures that “The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” (1 Pet. 3:12) Pray on Christian, God sees and hears.
